Stone Harbor Boulevard

The Wetlands Institute

A coastal education and research center beside the salt marsh.

The Wetlands Institute is a coastal education and research center on Stone Harbor Boulevard. It sits beside the salt marsh on the way into town from the mainland.

That approach is the southern road onto the island, across the marsh. The institute is a bay-side stop, not an ocean-beach entrance.

Where it sits

Stone Harbor Boulevard crosses the marsh from the mainland. The institute is along that road, on the marsh side of the borough. It is a different direction from the numbered-street dune crossings on the Atlantic side.

Many visits pair it with the drive in or the drive out, then a beach day or 96th Street once they are in town.

Hours and admission

Hours, tickets, and programs are set by the Wetlands Institute and can change. Confirm them with the institute before you go. This page does not publish a schedule or a price.

A beach tag is a borough beach program. It is not described here as admission to the institute.
