Planning meals in Stone Harbor

Where dining sits in town, and how a rental street changes dinner.

Restaurants in Stone Harbor are concentrated on 96th Street and the blocks around the business district. That is the useful fact. A list of named kitchens would go stale, so this guide does not keep one.

Use the restaurants page for the map of downtown. Use this page to plan a week of meals around a rental.

Eat in or walk out

A rental with a kitchen covers breakfast and the nights you do not want a table. Going out means 96th Street. There is not a second restaurant district at the far end of the island to fall back on.

The walk is the variable. From the blocks near the center, downtown is a short trip. From the north or south end, it is a planned outing. Oceanfront and beach-block houses were chosen for the beach, not because the front door opens onto a cafe.

Summer versus the rest of the year

In summer, tables and hours are the busy version of town. After the beach season, some kitchens shorten the week. Confirm hours for the dates you are actually there.

Reservations, if a restaurant takes them, are that restaurant’s system. This site does not book tables.

What to read on the listing

If cooking matters, look for a kitchen in the operator’s description. If a parking space matters because you would rather drive to 96th Street than walk, that space has to be on the listing too.

Pet-friendly rules for the house do not decide whether a restaurant allows a dog. Those are separate questions, and the borough’s street rules are a third.

Questions

Common questions

Where should we go for dinner in Stone Harbor?

96th Street and the blocks around the business district. Pick a specific restaurant from current hours, not from a fixed list on this site.

Are restaurants within walking distance of every rental?

No. Downtown is walkable from the center of town. From the ends of the island it is a longer trip. The listing street is how you tell.
